Dave, this is second hand info so take it for what it is.

I have 3 close friends who are Vets and have relied on a couple of different VA hospitals for a variety of treatments. All 3 give really glowing reports on the treatment they've received. I don't think any of them feel they could have got better care any where else. One in particular has had some experience with some of the mental health treatment facilities that the VA offers. I'm not a vet myself, but I do believe that in some cases being a vet does require some "special" treatment facilities when talking about the mental aspect in particular. Without going into all the details, I believe that my friend is alive today because of the availability of treatment he received.

Good to hear that your dad is getting good care, and you are right: easy thing to do is complain about things, its good to hear a positive once in a while.
