Rolla, ND
Canada has been growing some. Though our state has been working on it for quite awhile, we have not been able to get federal approval to grow it. Getting such permission seems to be about as likely as getting the feds to say it was aliens at Roswell.

No reason not to be able to grow it,. but we can't because it's the same species as marijuana and so by definition is an illegal drug.

For some reason, after it's been grown elsewhere, the feds don't seem to have trouble distinguishing that the things produced are not illegal drugs.

In any case, it's not quite the fix everything and get fabulously wealthy crop that proponents would like to have you believe. Note that it is indeed legal in many parts of the world and it hasn't displaced all other crops there.
