Hi Steve.  I think you hit the nail on the head with your statement, even if it was sarcastic. 

"Anything you can do to preserve plant health will help that corn feed in better. Oh, thats right. I forgot, healthy soil makes for healthy plants."

Healthy soil does make for healthy plants.  That's a great observation.  Healthy plants make for healthy livestock and healthy people.  The old saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" also holds true for plants.  Are short-lived chemicals with zero nutritional value the only way to preserve plant health?  There are a lot of options when it comes to preventative maintenance in crops, before the need to spray occurs.  But healthy soil sure is the best place to start.
