SE PA | All drills vary slightly at such a low setting- even the same models, not an exact science. I have a 1560 and the setting for 9-10lbs is 3-4. It seems just under the alfalfa setting gets you close. If you set to the suggested rate of 8lbs per acre of alfalfa- which is listed on the chart-that should also be close to the 9-10lbs per acre. At any rate put in 50lbs and plant a couple acres to see where it's at.
Grasseed's caution of cracking larger seeds is valid especially if the seeds are larger then 24,000 seeds per pound. Pour in a pound of seed on the one end. Take off the tube and have someone hold or tie on a bag and then you can see if it is cracking the seeds or not. If it is, use the large seed box and the setting is basically the same number 3-4, which is esentially almost closed the whole way except for the half moon cut out on the bottom of the seed control part. | |
