Southwest TN | We are new to irrigation "here". We are on our third year with one unit and put up four more this year and maybe two more next year. I have one 135ac. "wiper" in cotton , the rest is corn. Last year we had cotton under our first unit and it was the worst cotton we produced avg. on 570lbs/ac where dryland was 700lbs and up. Seed was Phytogen 375 and part Dp. 912. According to most growers around me they had the same problem. At a seed meeting one of the Phytogen reps told us it was the 375 plus all the hot and dry coulped with the accumulation of a lot of heating units quickly here. Was told to plant a more determinate variety like the new Phytogen 367 which I did. Our land is capable of producing 900-1250lbs on HEL land. I have made 6 passes so far this year on 3ths. and on a 1/2in. pass tonight. Have had a few showers lately but gonna be dry this week. Cotton is at 2nd week of blooming avg 35in tall with 88% square retention. Do you guys have any tips on when you water to achive max yield ? If it matters I didn't use Hydrahume, Coron, ENC, Agrotain, Avail or Pentia. Just Ca.Nitrate ,VAR rate P and K. ,Mepachlor.Borosol.and poison.
