I don't know if the oats can take that crimping or not . . .
But, you can roll the field after the oats are off . . .
Lot'ta guys roll alfalfa fields after cutting crops off . . . darned wheel rakes and such keep flicking little stones loose.  And also to help smooth out the wheel depressions/ruts from chopper trucks/wagons.
