Most of what he does is recognize the non-verbal cues that dogs give off. Most people, having now been off the farm for generations, completely miss the cues and communication of what is on their minds. Most farmers who work with stock can see a cow ready to kick before she does, they can see when a horse is about to get western on them, etc. Same deal in dogs. Most city folks are not totally oblivious to what really makes animals tick.
