EC WisconsiN | I am looking at planting a cover crop on some acres after wheat harvest. Located in NE WI and will be planting it probably the first or 2nd week of august, depending on moisture situation. I have tried tillage radish before but have not seen any real benefit besides the deer loving to dig them out of the snow during the winter. For the wildlife benefit I would like to play some radishes yet, but not sure on what to mix with them or if there are pre-mixed concotions to purchase. Would like something that the frost would kill and/or something that will be easily handled in a wet spring (via no-till burndown) to plant corn into. I was thinkin maybe hairy vetch and austrian winter peas. Anybody with a better cover crop mix to suggest? Thank you | |
