Subject: Re: firstrate and surfactant with roundup power max

I don't think the 'loaded' part of roundup works well for other herbicides. I think it has CIS (cat ionic surfactant) vs. the usual non-ionic surfactant we use as an additive. For the most part if conditions are just right for herbicide uptake into the weeds NIS and AMS won't matter, but that isn't always the case and the AMS (nitrogen source) and NIS (spreader/sticker) do a lot to improve the odds of absorbtion. If nothing else NIS is a good insurance policy. Anymore with our hard water I also add citron to my holding tanks to keep the pH in check. Doing both as pretty much make 32oz of generic glyphosate very effective (but I don't wait until I have big weeds either).

thanks,

Pat
