I think it has more to do with a change in focus than being "caught up". For me, it's the concentration of all energy on one goal and when that goal is completed it becomes necessary to focus energy in a different direction. That momentary void can can cause a little melancholy, for lack of a better word. Obviously hard to explain to those who are not affected by it.
