You can find out for yourself it there is anything going on with the GPS constellation by downloading a mission planning software package from the www.trimble.com web site. this is the link
http://www.trimble.com/planningsoftware_ts.asp
you will also need a current ephemeris or almanac file (from the same page)
then you subscribe to the NANU (Navigation Advisory for Navstar Users) http://cgls.uscg.mil/mailman/listinfo/nanu for finding out if any satellites have a probem for some reason or other (for instance the most recent NANU mentioned SV13 will unhealthy in a few days which may have some impact on your field work. You can selectively disable a particular SV in the planning software. to see the effect on the HDOP (horizontal Dilution of Positions) This is the NANU about SV13
CONDITION: GPS SATELLITE SVN43 (PRN13) WILL BE UNUSABLE ON JDAY 145
(25 MAY 2006) BEGINNING 2100 ZULU UNTIL JDAY 146 (26 MAY 2006)
ENDING 0900 ZULU.

When you subscribethe NANUs are emailed to you whenever they are published .
