Subject: No fertilizer on corn

SE PA
Last fall i planted a 12 species cover crop cocktail designed to go to corn-heavy on legumes and of course Tillage Radish. Corn was planted on April 30 and no fertilizer was added- none, not even any starter at planting. I created 12 row field length blocks where i sidedressed 60 lbs (actual N) of Super U and amonium sulfate (39%N) and a 120 lbs rate broadcast applied. Also a block of no N. The pictures below were taken the 16th and today the 28th of June to show the no N plots. I've had 3 people who could not tell me where the no N plots are. So far it's looking really good. This is a 20 year no till field so i'm sure that helps as well. I'll be taking yield checks at harvest. I'm starting to increase my belief that cover crop mixes are doing things we don't totally understand- and it's all good.
