the fact that you said the previous crop was hay is a very good indicator.   Hay draws a lot of potassium out of the soil.  If you are going to see potassium deficiency symptoms, it would not surprise me one bit to see them in old sods first.

Get a plant tissue sample done and verify what you are seeing.  How long would it take for you to get plant tissue results back?
