Subject: 854 Rogator hydraulic pressure surges in boom control circuit

The hydraulic pressure to the boom control block on my Rogator started acting up last week. At startup, I get a pressure pulse about every 5 seconds. I can feel the pulse in the hose going to the P1 port on the boom control block and I can see the tilt cylinders move back and forth slightly at the same time. After the machine is warmed up, the pulse comes more often and with more vigor. Reading other posts made me think something may be wrong with the boom accumulator. I checked the accumulator pressure, 64 psi, but I have no idea what it should be. I also discovered that the pulsing goes away if I disconnect the weatherpac connector that leads to the mico switch on the bottom end of the accumulator. What does that switch do anyway? Any suggestions? The machine is a 1999 model with a 90 foot 5 section boom.
