central - east central Minnesota - | mikado - 6/15/2011 09:34 Any ideas for a pasture fence with no wires being electrified. I have some very nice pasture that I am itching to place cattle in. Wife does not want to deal with a "hot" wire. I don't want cattle that get out. So pasture is setting empty this year. Right now we have a very good 4 wire fence, but cattle will reach thru and each year 1 or 2 at a time will just kind of crawl on out. If they are going to do that, I don't think a 5 or even 6 wire fence will keep them in. What do you think? If electrified is out of question - Here, I would put up woven wire with at least 2 strands of barbed wire on top. That keeps them in. Also, spray RR at base to keep grass & weeds down. That's here - where a pasture is pretty small, as compared to the larger cattle producing states to the west/south west . . . .. |
