i have not had that trouble but it was a thought at first for sure as i tried to rinse out my first bottle of it and it just went into an instant jello inside the bottle! am not so sure that if you laced a tank load heavy with it you have a mess on your hands???
at a 4 oz rate it sure thickens up the pattern coming out of the nozzles, i usually just shoot for 2 oz and it does a good job for me.
