Mississippi Delta
Have always had better luck with late rice behind buckets than late soybeans. Just seems the beans don't want to grow. There was some rice planted around here last week, and I drove to Little Rock yesterday and there was a good bit of rice being "flushed up" on the way. If it was me, I would try and find some hybrid seed, get it planted and have the water right behind the planter. When you get a stand you could put out a little blend (NPK) and you'd be off to the races. My neighbor plants a little rice behind wheat every year, I think he told me he has averaged 145 bu for the last five years.
