Subject: Re: buying tanks to store 28%?

Leesburg, Ohio
When we built our current setup, we had about $10k in the concrete dike, including removal of some old concrete and site prep. I'm sure that would be at least 50% higher now. Used grain bin rings and a liner might be a cheaper solution???

We have one 30,000 gal. tank that we bought new for $9k delivered. We priced the same tank a couple years ago for about $14k. The other two tanks were bought used at $5500 each. Wish we had bought new ones.

$50/ton savings has been very doable most years, by purchasing in the summer before the next crop. Some years it turns out to be $100/ton saved. Then there was 08-09, and for that one year out of the last 30, it cost alot of money to buy early...who knew...

The two years after we built the facility, we saved enough to pay for it. I would not count on that now, but on the other hand, it's good to be a bit more in charge of our own "destiny" in the fertilizer world.
