The power company owns the meter pole and meter panel.  I didn't install anything, just using the existing setup that the neighbor (former owner) had in place.  I can't be stealing anything since I am the one responsible for the power charges.

The power company is coming out today to pull the meter and engineer a new connection.  This problem should go away by the end of the week.

My rant was related to the neighborlyness of sneaking some "free" power and hoping not to get caught.

No written easement was given, just a verbal one.  He knows what he did and promised.  I can't change the past, just trying to figure how to stop the abuse going forward.  Oh, well...........
