I had a Mayrath swing hopper auger that would shear a one half inch bolt when overloaded. I put the new bolt in a new hole that was ninty degrees to the worn hole. It sheared instantly. I had to resume using the old worn hole. It works fine. The bolt may shear because it needs a little play when it trys to jump a little. Good Luck.
