Subject: low oil pressure shutdown - damage?

Saskatchewan
In a rush and didn't check the oil level on the Steiger Bearcat this morning.

It was warming up in the yard (idling - no load) when it just shut off - engine oil pressure light was blinking and the warning chime was beeping.

I restarted the tractor and checked all of the gauges - they were all good. Even the oil pressure gauge was reading normal. Then the engine shutoff again and the light was blinking and chime beeping.

Checked the oil and saw that it was below the 'add' line (I know - should have been checked before I even turned the key - lesson learned). I topped up the oil and went to the field for the day.

So the question is, did I do any engine damage? The gauge in the cab was reading normal even though the level was low....is the shutoff sending unit more sensitive than the gauge sending unit?
