The biggest problem you will have with a flex head is the large dead spot between the cutter bar and the auger. Trying to get that stuff to feed will be tough. When it doesn't feed and builds up on the cutter bar and then you have issues cutting it off...

I would recommend a draper or continuing with what you are doing. Drapers are darn expensive and cost more to maintain than an auger head. Roller bearings and canvas replacement gets expensive--plus it just inherently has more 'moving parts'. I really like my draper, especially in poor crop conditions or really good crop conditions--they really shine. In 30 bushel wheat I really don't see a huge gain to them....
