Paxton, IL
Update: Things just keep getting better. Got a call yesterday from the service department at the dealership saying we should probably come over and have a look at the tractor. When they took the valve cover off they found a piece of a valve so obviously we had them tear it down some more to see what's going on. Turns out we're missing all the valves on cylinder #4. One of them went up into the intake, the other 3 are embedded in the piston. Having found that I wanted to double check that the pump was really bad but they did some more tests on it and said it's shot. Their theory is that the pump was failing and was putting too much fuel to that cylinder and that ended up causes the big mess. So long story short we're now looking at a reman engine plus the pump kit. The really sad part is that I really honestly like this tractor way to much when it was running but these types of things really make me want to go visit the deere dealer.
