Subject: RE: EZ Guide 500 vs SF1 from Deere

SE South Dakota
I don't know really anything about the EZ Guide guide but I have 7 years with JD auto-trac and my suggestion would be to return the system you have and purchase the JD and use SF 2 for planting or strip till work and (3 month subscrition) then the free SF 1 for tillage and anything other. I say this assuming you are running a newer JD tractor. I just never ever have had the problems you mention, it gets the line every time and keeps it straight from the start.

My neighbors have been using SF 1 to plant and yes the rows are straight but the pass to pass is a bit lacking, at times. SF 2 fixes this. I'm betting in time the neighbors will go to SF 2.
I"ve also spoke with a hired man of another neighbor that uses some sort of EZ guide to plant and he has problems that I've never heard of before. The JD has just worked from day one.
