North Central Illinois | Interesting times for sure. I don't have the answers. It appears that demand has begun to shrink but at what rate and for how long? If crude continues to drop ethanol will struggle. First things first. We have to get this crop planted and out of the ground. According to the report we are only 12% behind the 5 year average on planting. The big question is can Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and parts of Minnesota get things going? The Dakotas? Long way to go in this growing season and weather could turn off really good and produce some pretty good yields. Could go the other way too. It looks to be like we will not plant as many acres as many of us thought only a few weeks ago. It would appear that some of the western belt is off to a pretty good start and parts of Illinois are as well. It will be quite a ride for the rest of the summer and fall. Keep the information coming. I'm not a perma bull by any means but I like to hear both sides of the case. | |
