Ripley, Ontario Canada | I also farm in Ontario, and think you will be losing a lot if you kill the wheat board. I don't sell through the board here either, but would likely use it more if I was bigger. The real killer for me is I am a small producer and don't have a dryer or trucks so have to deliver to a local elevator that is an agent for the board. By the time they take a slice off to move it to a terminal elevator there is no difference between the board and off board. If I had a dryer and storage (it is coming but you can only do so much a year) I would be able to deliver direct to a terminal or mill in Ont with a wheat board contract and likely be better off most of the time.
I have to ask for those that don't think the Canadian wheat board does a good job,
1 Have you run as a director to get the board to do things different.
2 Do you really thing Cargill and company are going to treat you any better if they don't have any competition?
