Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | Several years ago the local bank held a very nice retirement dinner and a short program for a retiring loan officer/vice-president. Towards the end of the program, after several co-workers had given their little spiel, the evening's MC then introduced one of the guest of honors special long time "friends", Iris, who he said always enjoyed the retiree's company during the annual Iowa Banker's Assn. meetings in Des Moines.
"Iris" then appears, red lipstick, big hair, the whole load. Turns out "Iris" had worked at the bank years ago and then moved away. But she knew all his mannerisms, speech patterns, etc. well enough to really put on a show. Everyone immediately knew it was a farce, but for about 2 minutes the guest of honor, sitting in the front row, thought we were believing the story. Priceless. |
