I sold 25% of my new crop corn for $6.25 cash today. I previously sold 20% for an average cash price of about $5.25. I have an open order in to sell the rest of my insured bushels at $7 Dec '11 futures (with the plan to roll to July '12 futures at a $.35 carry).
I'd be very happy with a $6.20 average cash price on 70% of my production!
I'm just curious to hear of anyone else's target prices. I know many people think this market has a lot of room to the upside but what price level will get you to pull the trigger? $7, $8, $10?
Are you priced on inputs: fertilizer/chemical too? If so, when did you price your fertilizer? 110% of insurance gurantee sold now...not to willing to sell more until i actually get the corn in the ground and see tassles in July. Once planting is complete, will be working hard on fertilzer for 2012 and start making sales accordingly.
Thats my plan. We will see what mother nature has to say about it. |
