michigan | my dad has grown corn for 50 years and when i was growing up we never started planting before the last few days in april and most of the corn was put in during the middle of may. looking back we always seemed to have average yields by doing it like this now with the not so normal planting dates one year extremely early or real late it seems like yields are all over the board. we either have a bumper crop or a terreible crop maybe if we get back to the norm yields will start averaging out again. last year was very unusual for our area to be done planting by the first part of may so maybe we are looking at more of a normal year. like others have posted before on here saying we always seem to get it planted one way or another. good luck this spring guys hope you have a safe spring | |
