Don't know where you were you came up with the idea that crop ins. is welfare. Welfare is a program based on income. Only helps the poor. Crop insurance is for anyone who farms. That would be called a subsidy not welfare. If farm programs were set up like you think or want you would have no reason to farm any more acres or do a good job. Would have to make sure you didn't make money so you can collect your check. It is a shame farmers are not educated better to understand there own programs. It sounds like you have been on EWG to much. 90% of the payments go to 10% of the farmers. DUH 10% of the farmers are farming 90% of the ground. The payments are tied to acres farmed and bushels/production, not $ of income. For good reason, we are not socialists.
