Intresting comments, anyone hiring has experienced Great employees and not so great employees I have decided after years of having employees to try to go it alone except for drivers during harvest, I do not like workmans comp and quarterlys it keeps me from operating my equipment Thats why i farm and i am not intrested in being a boss I did that for years and now i enjoy life without all the extra stress of finding qualified workers

I agree, when my dad and I farmed together we had cattle, hogs, corn, soybeans and tobacco and hired a couple of people full time, in later years we had just cattle, grain, and hay for the cattle after I had the tobacco raised on the shares by other people. Since my dad has passed on I am alone and have a retired friend who runs my combine for me in corn while I haul and tend the dryer, he usually works about a month at harvest. I hire my spraying done or I would need some seasonal help for the spring and summer.
