are on the right track.

I am aware that a feedlot does not use as much water as corn, but was referring to the availability of feed in the area because of less water.

What I should have mentioned in my 1st post was wet feed. Silage, haylage, high moisture corn, etc. These are not enocomical or practical to transport very far. Use of these feeds might become more limited, and in some areas where dairy cattle numbers have increased, feedlots will not be able to compete with dairys for silage acres or high moisture corn.
