Central WI | Personally, I think as time goes by the crowd calling for the shutdown of our nuclear plants, or the move away from nuclear power will quiet. We can't simply shut it off without a replacement in place. This transition would take many-many years. Thinking back to the spike in oil in 2008 and leading into the elections that fall, one would have thought with all that was being said and promised that we would be much further along in our transition to alternative/renewable sources of energy. Yes we have taken a few steps, but once fuel prices dropped, no-one talked about it anymore. I think any large transition to coal would take considerable investment and many years of planning (maybe many, many, many years considering all the restrictions and EPA redtape) before any plants would be added or capacity increased in the plants already online. | |
