Subject: Hardsurfacing shovels---top or bottom?

Read some over the yrs here on hardsurfacing. Did a search and didn't come up with much. I realize putting a spot on top in front of the bolt hole helps the bolt last longer but I'm wondering again if you should run a bead on the bottom side or top of the leading edge of a cultivator shovel?
