After chlordane was baned, Dursban was used for a few years but the residual was rather short. Pyrethroid insecticide have also been used. They are safe but the residual does not match chlordane. One of the best product now available is Termador. It is safe, effective and has a very good residual. However, it is only sold to professional pest control operators. You can check the LSU AgCenter web site for more information on termites.
