Subject: RE: 220 spray Coup Booms?

Osakis, MN

I built new ones for mine out of 1 1/2" square tube they are a little heavier but they fold out hydraulic and I don't have to get out to reset the tips when they breakaway, or going from field to field.  Made them with the stick welder 4 or 5 years ago and they have never broke yet!   I usually spray wide open in third gear at about 12 to 13 MPH so they aren't being babied either.  I installed a hydraulic pressure relief valve inline with the cylinder return hose and looped to the hydraulic return line to the hydraulic oil tank.  If I hit something it, it will breakaway without destroying something.  I need to bump the hydrualic lever to reset the boom to the working position.  Several times I have grabbed the fold lever quick to miss a pole or a tree branch. They seem to be working good so far.
