Subject: Power Steering Pressures? (With Picture)

Guelph, Ontario
I have a 1980 7000 GMC that has a hole in the line that runs from the power steering pump to the steering unit. This line is not a braided steel hose but does have crimped on ends which are long and intricate. Would it work if I carefully removed the old ferrels and reinstalled the original ends on a new piece of hose with hose clamps?
Ordering a new line will prove to be frustrating and expensive, I think.
What hose should I use? Something like hydraulic suction line comes to mind.
