SEQ, Australia | You can do that without any problems, but the issue with the system not recognising the EZ-Steer the first time sounds like you have the power being supplied to the EZ-Guide 500 power connector, not the EZ-Steer power connector (should be down near the T2 box). You only need to put power to the one near the T2 box and this allows it to power up just before the 500, which draws more current to start off (hence the problem with the EZ-Steer not being "online" quick enough).
We cut the cig lighter ends off almost all of our EZ-Guide/EZ-Steer cables and wire them into full time power with a switch. Cig lighters are a universal, but sometimes poor source of power as there is too much movement in the connector. The only issue I see with what you're doing is that you will always have to pull the connector out to turn the system off. I wouldn't wire into the switched power terminal, as you risk damaging something when you crank the tractor over. | |
