Jackson County, AL | We have a 1985 F800 tandem with the 429 in it and it has barely enough power to pull itself, much less 650-700bu of grain. Dad looked at the option of dropping in a diesel as he has a guy close that runs a salvage yard and sets up heavy trucks for farmers. He said that the rear end ratio would not be right for a diesel so the rears would have to be swapped also along with building a new drive shaft. He has decided to get rid of it and use the bed on a good diesel. Its a shame, the rest of the truck is in good shape, drives well, and has good brakes and tires. I would like to have had the chance to go shopping in the salvage yard and try to come up with a solution for it. | |
