base price difference on a 7088 vs 8120 is close to 50k base list difference.
As far as the machine it will do the job as it was similar to what you had. Just like anything else in this world with proper maintance and things will keep running. The 7088 would be a huge increase over your 1680, however i think you will get more efficency from adding the draper head.
