| The 18 spd tranny in the 5488 is the same basic tranny that CIH has used in the Magnums & MX series tractors for years, just upgraded to a powershift. I've never owned a 88 series tractors but have owned several Magnums & MXs & knock on wood but have never had a tranny issue in any of them.
Good friend bought a new 5488 2wd that I used a couple times. Tractor was a horse.
