| You have not been specific enough as to what electrical system you have on that tractor, but it sounds like you have a 6-volt positive ground battery ignition with a voltage regulator. First, re-polarize the generator. Then, see if you can get it to charge by grounding the field terminal (F) on the generator directly to the ground terminal on the battery. Grounding the âFâ terminal forces the generator to maximum output. If it starts working, then that would indicate your regulator has a bad ground, a bad connection in the field circuit, or needs adjustment. If it does not want to charge then you need to investigate the generator.
Also, NEVER remove the battery cables while the tractor is running!
