Good advice, don't every let emotions take control at an auction. Really don't care if they are plugging the bid, sometimes you just have to educate them. Haven't seen an auction yet where somebody held a gun to a bidders head to keep bidding.
Several years ago before my second daughter got married, went to an auction to bid on a house for them. Didn't take me too long to figure out the only two bidders was the auctioneer and me. Got to the limit we had set and quit. Auctioneer's phantom bidder bid again, after awhile he gave up and said sold, with the right of seller to reject or accept bid. After a confernce with the seller, auctioneer annouced winning bid wasn't high enough. Then asked me if wanted to raise my bid, I said back to him that my bid wasn't the winning bid and he needed to talk to the winning bidder instead of me. | |
