Mrs B, you mentioned the lie soap. Do you remember how they made the lie soap? I vaguely remember the lie soap was made on hog butchering days out of the lard from the hogs or maybe mixed in with the lard to make it go further. Also I don't think any of you talked about the bluing that your mothers put into the rinse water to make the clothes whiter. As some of you said the same wash water was used over and over until all the clothes were washed. I remember when Dad bought Mom her first automatic washer it drove Mom crazy how much water that washer waisted.
