NC Iowa | maybe odl will provide more details. to me, it sounded like the assets were disposed of for bills before death. don't know what the assets were either, so that would make a difference. naturally, bills have to be paid and cash in the bank would be better that selling farm land or equipment because of stepped up basis loss or recapture issues. hold on to the possibility of making it up now if there is a desire to honor intent of will.
i had poa for 15 years, and was also executor of my mom's estate. had 2 non farm siblings, so i have an idea of how delicate this position is. i took way less that what i could have, to keep peace, and even then i wasn't totally successful. | |
