| I picked up corn at a underground storage facility on the eastern side of Iowa along the river, about 40-50 miles northeast of Dyersville. It looked to me like you could easily drive 2 semis along side of each other along the driveways. I had to go back in and load so more on and the guy told me to "not get lost in there". There were quite a few different passage ways in there and I wished I had paid a little more attention to where I was going and not just followed the guy in front of me. There were 5-6 different commodities that were stored in there listed on my bill of lading that I got there. I remember that you drove at a fairly steep angle down when you drove out of cave and you had to take a sharp 90 turn or you would go into the Mississippi.... and there wasn't much of a barricade to stop you if you messed up. I think that they said that the mine produced a special type of sand that was used in the John Deere casting foundries. | |
