Subject: Re: Calibrating Direct Command on sprayer

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Farminguy is correct.

In virtually all systems (including Raven and Ag Leader), the Flowmeter Cal number is used to convert the "pulses" that the system sees into a measurment that we are accustomed to. In the case of a sprayer this is usually Gallons in the U.S.

The number of pulses observed are divided by the Flow meter Cal number. If the indicated total gallons in a tank is greater than it is known to be, the Flow meter Cal number will need to be larger.

Don't start thinking about Rate/Acre or you will get yourself confused. Eyeballing the tank is not a very accurate way to second guess the flowmeter cal number. If you used 700 with a Raven and were happy then continue to use 70 with the Direct Command.

If the number has changed, it is probably due to some problem with the flowmeter and not due to the change from Raven to Direct Command. The reason for the "factor of 10" is that years ago when Raven started with the SCS 400, they decided to use a meter cal that represented 10 units to avoid having to insert a decimal point. When you enter "700" into a Raven it is actually using 70.0 anyway.
