Subject: UGA VRI / Precision Ag Field Day

Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!)

In honor of Earth Day 2007, there will be a "Precision Systems in Agriculture Field Day" at the farm of Joe Boddiford, Sylvania, this Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon, with lunch provided. This is sponsored by the University of Geogia Precision Ag Team , in cooperation with Clemson University and Hobbs & Holder .

Featured technologies will be Variable-Rate Irrigation (a topic near and dear to me, LOL), UGA’s Smart Soil Moisture Sensors, Wireless Broadband Internet Uses on the Farm, Soil EC Sensor & Variable-Rate Nematicide (Ahmad Khalilian, Clemson University), Technologies & A Farmer’s Perspective from Joe Boddiford.

Joe's farm is near the Savannah River, about halfway between Savannah and Augusta, pretty accessible for some of you New Ag Talk readers.

Directions: From Sylvania: Take U.S. Route 301 North for ~ 4.4 miles, turn right onto State Route 24 (Newington Hwy). ~ 7 miles take a left onto a dirt farm road. Follow farm road to Field Day pivot site.  Look for “Field Day” sign at farm entrance!

Farm GPS coordinates: N 32° 46.7270’; W -81° 31.9963’
