You have a few more questions to answer first, at least I think.

1) How many times are you spraying that acreage, for total acres covered?

2) How many custom acres can you get, who is paying for the insurance, and do you really have the time if you make that commitment?

3) Interest on the $50,000 investment, plus there is going to be up keep costs in there.

4) Boom length, what works best for the custom acres, and will it fit your needs?

5) 60" spacing, depending on tank size, and width of booms, can be rather unstable.

6) The self-propelled, for the most part are going to be 120" spacing, adjustable to wider, is that going to work for you?

Once you answer some of those questions, you just need to sharpen your pencil, and see what your cost per acre is, what payments are going to be, and figure it from there. One of the important ??? is who is covering the insurance for the custom work, plus you are probably really going to need a commercial license to keep your rear out of a sling.
