Subject: Re: Golden Grain Bins

NW Iowa
I have torn down and rebuilt several bins, one Golden Grain among them. The Golden Grain's sidewall sheets are just as heavy as the older Stormor bins. They will pretty much match gauge for gauge and I'm talking Stormor's heavy build recommendations. I agree on the roof sheets. They are like tissue paper when you are handling them, but once they are up and the stiffeners put on, they're OK. Golden Grain also uses fewer bolts and the galvanize is more reactive if the sheets are stacked together and get wet. I also suspect if you have grain go bad against the sidewalls that the galvanize will not fare as well as say a Stormor. I have no experience with their floors.
